Dain in Paris

The Brooklyn artist presented his works in Paris these days.
It is the first time I see his work and I am impressed! Strong colors and images mixing with an intelligent sense of humor.
Brilliant!

( and big ups for audrey (L))

Spring/Summer tendences

Gucci
Sonya Rykiel
Marni

Georgio Armani

- White
- Neutrals
- Ethical and Soft Colors
- All about being sexy
- Glamour but not like 40's

As for Belts, which are strong this season are high waisted mainly large as in Georgio Armani, YSL, Sonya Rykiel, Gucci, Balmain, Fendi, Alberta Ferrati, Mani, Rick Owens, Pucci, Jean Paul Gaultier.

I was thinking...

It is actually amazing how people can mix with you! How easy you can be touched! how easy you can say: “that can wait” because of someone, how your success is because of someone or a little group of people.

I speak of my own experience, but it is weird to recognize that. we always want to prove something and is that ‘wanting’ that makes us struggle against any stream that comes across our way, just like any winner.

John Galliano Spring/Summer 2011 Paris

John Galliano came up with Charlie Chaplin dead-ringers as inspiration for his last menswear collection in Paris.

A very scenographic background surrounds all the models that appear to arrive from one of the movies of the most creative and influential personalities of the silent-film era.

A theatrical story-tale with a provocative ending.

Michael Angel 2011 Resort Collection

It was only yesterday that I found out about this futuristic Fashion Designer.
I read he is a master at positioning digitally printed fabric to enhance the feminine silhouette. I also saw this picture below from his 2011 Resort Collection
I glared at the outfit astonished ( ridiculous) because I do really think this is a work of genius !
The colors shout passion. I can't wait to see more!

Visual Power

The thing I find most impressive in clothes is how they talk for us. Our voice when we are in silence in the middle of a crowd.

I reckon Vivienne Westwood as an example. I mean how she talked and targeted her good old days with her provocative and flamboyance outfits!

Her clothes were speaking for her: her political view, her musical taste and her attitude.

It is amazing to observe humankind and the way we all express ( or don’t) ourselves. For example I wish my writing was better so I could show you what I really mean by this (the fact that i

t isn’t my mother tongue doesn’t really help but I will improve I promise). Thought, back on track, some can’t write and some can’t even talk, argue or defend themselves by oral communication and this is when visual comes in.

Alexander Mcqueen Menswear Spring 2011

Sarah Burton was nominated as the new creative director of Alexander McQueen house.
This collection was 80% completed around McQueen's death and finished under Burton.

For me it looks fresh and dynamic trying into an English, aristocratic inspiration and also not boring which for me is the main problem in fashion nowadays specially in menswear.

I'm looking forward for her next work: Spring/Summer womanswear 2011!

Li Edelkoort

Li announces the concepts, colours and materials, which will be in fashion two or more years in advance because, "there is no creation without advance knowledge, and without design, a product cannot exist."

• Paper industry: from paper to hygiene
• Automobile industry: from concept to equipment
• Beauty universe: from perfume to cosmetics
• Mass consumption: from food industry to maintenance products
• Accessories: shoes, watches, jewelry…
• High-tech industry: from telephony to electric and electronic devices
• Textile and garment industry: from sportswear to lingerie
• Home environment: kitchen, bathroom, table arts, textiles

Li Edelkoort was born in 1950 in Holland, studied fashion and design at School of Fine Arts in Arnhem.
In 1975 she goes to Paris and starts a full time job as a independent trend consultant.

She is, i can say, a big inspiration, a role model for me. I will talk more about her, later in the blog.

Soho Hotel Berlin and life

Good afternoon !

I need to start by showing an hotel in Berlin - Soho Berlin with interiors by designer Susie Atkinson and London-based Michaelis Boyd Associates.

The "worst" thing about being a creative is when you see in others work something you've already imagine in your head!
So if this is your case, expose your ideas as quickly as you can. do not hesitate ! and do not be afraid to tell people what you are thinking/creating/projecting. It is not like they will steal your work, perhaps others can even help you succeed.

I have a work in project in my head.. in some weeks I will show it to same portuguese interior magazines... It will take a while until I get what I want but I have a good feeling about "this one"
(:

Well... now the Hotel:
