Calling All Entries For AIA/LA's Restaurant Design Awards

I just saw this announcement in an interior design magazine and wanted to published it because it seemed interesting and a good opportunity for those in architecture and design who own a restaurant, pub, lounge bar, etc.

Good luck to everyone :)

"Restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs and lounges—they're as much a part of Los Angeles as the Hollywood sign and the Sunset Strip. So, it's only fitting that the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects devotes one of its most prestigious awards to their design.

Now in its sixth year, AIA/LA's Restaurant Design Awards program is accepting entries for the 2010 competition. Created to honor excellence in the field, the awards are open to architects and designers, both independent and firm-affiliated. Owners of restaurants, bars and the like are also encouraged to submit entries, which cost $75 for members of the AIA and $125 for non-members. Submissions will be judged in three categories: restaurants, café/bars, and lounges/nightclubs.

The deadline for registration is April 2, and materials submissions are due April 30. A jury will select the AIA award winners, while the public is encouraged to vote on the AIA/LA website for the People's Choice award. The awards ceremony will take place June 25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Last year's winners included Studio Arthur Casas' KAA Restaurant in the restaurant category, Montalba Architect's Kara's Cupcakes for café/bar, and Belzberg Architects in the lounge/nightclub category for their Conga Room—which subsequently snagged an Interior Design Best of Year award."

haha

:)

Postcard Inn

I have this huge crush on eccentric ceiling lamps (:

This interior is from Postcard Inn in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Re-built by SL.Design and B.R. Guest.
Look at the blue chairs.. and the other thing I think it goes really well in here is the books in the wall.
Not that i "defend" that books and pillows should play an important role in decoration  because i think it's kind of shallow if that is the only aim these objects are there for. On the other hand it's very relaxing and cosy to sit in a living room and just stare at the book covers or titles..

I liked this place a lot, it had brighten  my day.
I'm gonna go now because I'm just too tired and i still have same work to do before tomorrow.

Lots of love
xoxo

great

I found this interior picture in one of my searches , I don't know which house it is, the architect or the interior designer but this interior is just an inspiration. The ceiling lamp with the "little boat" is something I can call creative and it just fits perfectly in a cosy house.
The color palette is also 'calling' me . so peaceful!
