Intel Visual Life - The Sartorialist

Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011

Amazing outfits and terrific hats!
Loving the little details from transparencies to the sleeves to the fresh and discreet color palette  but nothing like the "viking" hats!

Claire McCardell 1905 - 1958

Claire is called the very first American fashion designer as well as the creator of the "American Look".
Studied Fashion Illustration at Parsons School of Design in 1925 spending the second year at Parsons branch in Paris more exactly in Place des Vosges.
She started her work as an assistant of Robert Turk in 1930.
Very influenced by Chanel and Vionnet.
In 1942 she makes one of her most popular designs...the "pop over" dress and it's also during the 40's that Claire creates a range of beachwear a playsuits.
In 1955 the designer uses the designs of modern artists like Chagall, Leger, Picasso, Miro and Dufy to make cotton resort clothes.
It is worth to take a look at her work and life !

The Kooples - love!

Born in Saville Row, City of Westminster London with a strong background of music and underground culture this label is basically of, as I like to call, "basics with a touch". It is actually having a strong impact nowadays specially in London and Paris.
Monochromatic clothes with something appealing. A "little bit" more expensive than other similar trendy basic labels as American Apparel or Cheap Monday though.
What I most loved about The Kooples was their last campaign ( I have no idea why I haven't post it about it yet) focusing on couples of the art world around Europe).
Romantic and trendy and relaxed ... this is London Calling !

André&Marisca - The boots and the skirt caught my eye

Anna&Lars - HER trousers!!

Marian&Florian - shoes and jacket so happy 'together'

Ian&Sarah - blazering

Richard&Anna - mystery blouse

Yasmine&Alba - loving the skirt

Pierre-Marc&Mallory - english waistcoat and a great integrated belt

Matthew&Marc - nothing like the classics!

Robert&Gemma - that camel jacket kills me !
